Entrapped in darkness: The nightmares from all sides

The monsters in the closet unbeknownst to us has creeped into our minds. No longer are we in fear of existential threat but of unsatisfactory dream. It has gradually morphed into despair which lingers over us through the passage of time. It is the past that can never be changed but we hope to obtain in the future. The dichotomy of the past and the future summons dark demons that would crawled towards us at night. The nightmares that would forever entrap us.

We should have slain the monster in the closet. We should have. Turning the knob on one hand with a machete at the other ready to strike. Pulled open the door with our eyes closed, we strike with all our mights, but nothing was there. The monster did exist. We all have seen it with our own eyes. It was there in the past. It is no longer here and will never be here in the future. Yet, the monster named regret still lives in the closet.

We are our own worst enemy. We elected to summon those demons. Crawling around us as we feel our chest compressed, suffocating and gasping for air. Sinking into a sea of agony, we cursed to the Gods and to ourselves to never again. Yet, without fail, as it seems to be out of our control, demons rises out of the depth of our minds to haunt us once more. Never ending cycle; Never ending fear; Never ending pain; And, Never ending despair. We are at our own mercy at the mercy of our minds.

As the sun rises, the monsters fade away. The spaces around us widened. We can finally breath again knowing that the night will come once again. The despair will continue with no ends in sight.
